Embarking on a Winter Adventure
DECEMBER 19, 2023
During an assembly period, Lower School students had the opportunity to choose-their-own-winter-holiday-adventure and spend time talking and learning about holidays in November and December. Lower School ProCom members hosted rooms related to a specific holiday they celebrate, shared a read aloud, and facilitated conversation. Each student was able to learn about two holidays and was encouraged to choose one mirror holiday (a holiday they celebrate or know a lot about) and one window holiday (a holiday they do not celebrate or don’t know much about).
In the Lower School, students learn about holidays and other observances because they allow us to celebrate difference as a source of strength and means of growth and to deepen our relationships by learning about others’ cultures.
