Class VII Field Trip to Urban Glass
November 2, 2023
In October, Class VII Museum Studies and Ceramics students visited Urban Glass, a leading glass-blowing facility in NYC. Founded in 1977 by three artists, UrbanGlass is a non-profit organization that fosters experimentation and advances the use and critical understanding of glass as a creative medium. After observing a glass blowing demonstration, students had the chance to participate in a cold-glass process workshop making tiles. Throughout the trip, students considered the creative processes that are inherent in the creation of functional objects, which connected back to their studies in their Museum Studies and Ceramics courses.
